1903 Mines of Western Ontario 81 Copper Queen veins composed of inter-mixed quartz, and breeciated greenstonecarrying a small percentage of chalcopy-rite. Considerable coarse specular hema-tite is intimately associated with mostof the chalcopyrite, small nodules of thethe latter being surrounded by the for-mer. At the No. 1 shaft and tunnelworkings the quartz vein explored isnearly clean of other rock matter, andhas a width at the crosscut at 115 f°etin the tunnel of 20 feet. It carriesonly a very small amount of chalcopy-rite except in the few cases of localenrichment. Although the several par-allel veins above mentioned are separ-ated by apparently barren bands of trap,the whole width of 50 feet or so northof the granite is considered as veinmattei. No. 2 shaft was started downvertically through the trap at a shorldistance north of the outside deposit ofquartz with the intention of intersectingthe vein lower down.
