Description
English: Larvae of a mosquito Anopheles sp., about 8 mm long. Found in a pond in Munich, Germany, in June 2007. Typical are the greenish color and a resting position parallel to the water surface. Anopheles larvae can turn their head 180° to feed on particles floating at the water surface. This behavior is shown in this 30 second movie.
Deutsch: Anopheles-Larve, ca. 8 mm lang, aus einem Gartenteich in München, Juni 2007. Typisch ist die grünliche Färbung und eine waagrechte, zur Wasseroberfläche parallele Ruhelage. Anopheles Larven können ihren Kopf um 180° drehen, um Nahrungspartikel aufzunehmen, die an der Wasseroberfläche schwimmen. Dieses Verhalten ist in diesem 30-Sekunden-Film gezeigt.
