Description

Only one flat tire this entire trip (2003). It was while biking around on Santa Cruz city streets. Lucky that city has many bike shops, including one called "Another Bike Shop."

I have a pump and spare tube, but wanted to see if it was time for a brand new tire. They said the old one had a few more miles, but might be a good idea to get new one. After Monterey comes Big Sur where there wouldn't be another bike shop for miles.

Then they discovered my break pads had almost worn their way through the metal of my back rim.

Having used this bike for more than one touring season, it was time for a new back wheel.

Except for that, my bike held up great. It's a mountain bike made by Giant. Price paid for bike, around $400.
