Summary edit

Description

Antonov An-124-100 CCCP-82005 (re-registered RA-82005 in 1993). This was the first appearance of an An-124 at the Farnborough Air Show. On 6 December 1997 RA-82005 took off from Irkutsk carrying two Sukhoi Su-27 fighters for delivery to Vietnam. Almost immediately three of the four engines surged in succession. It descended and struck residential housing just off the end of the runway, destroying the aircraft and killing all 23 on board and 45 people on the ground.
