Nederlands: Tot 1882 werd het midden der Markt ingenomen door de Vrijheidsboom; sedert 1887 door de bronzen Brabofontein van Jef Lambeaux: compositie op ruw rotsvormig voetstuk met opschrift: "Van / August Nottebohms / erfgift / opgericht 1887 /"; drie in elkaar gestrengelde zeemeerminnen geflankeerd door dolfijnen houden schip en burcht in de hoogte; daarboven Brabo die de hand van de reus wegwerpt; op het voetstuk tussen de zeemonsters ligt de neergevelde reus met afgehouwen hand.
