Description
English: Apatite-(CaF)
Locality: Crystal Lode pegmatite, Fulford District, Eagle County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 1.8 x 1.3 x 1.1 cm.
Apatite-(CaF) is well-known from the Fulford District in Colorado, but good specimens are not common, and especially difficult to get out of the state. For all the different mineral environments that exist in Colorado, it's no surprise that there is a pegmatite that produces attractive gemmy yellow Apatite crystals from time to time. This crystal is glassy, mostly translucent, with a gemmy termination and textbook hexagonal form. Complete all the way around, save one contact on the back of the crystal. Very highly representative of this uncommon locale and small find. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
