Summary edit

Description
English: Approaching the foot of the A4 pitch The tandem tracks are now hidden by heather and only the walkway in between is exposed. At the foot of the pitch, the trucks entered a flat marshalling area. Here trucks from Pen Diffwys and Ponc Moses (ponc being Welsh for Gallery) would be fed into the system. In the marshalling area trucks were uncoupled from the steel hawser which controlled their downward speed along the incline and hand pushed to the next drumhouse and fixed to its steel hawser. More than one truck could be sent down at a time, connected by chains, with the last truck attached to the hawser wire. The weight of the loaded trucks going down one track would haul empty trucks up the parallel track. Such inclines were termed self-acting inclines.
