Description
English: "Architectura Ecclesiastica Londini: St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey," etching, view of the church near Bermondsey Abbey, which was converted into Bermondsey House by Sir Thomas Pope. The caption states: ""This Church stands near the place where the ancient Priory of Bermonds Eye formerly stood. On the dissolution of this House, it was given by Henry 8th to Sr Thomas Pope, who erected a Mansion here which afterwards became the property of the Earls of Sussex. A place of Public Worship was founded by them, which lasted till the Year 1680 when the present edifice was built. The Rector is the Revd Chrles Hughes M.A." 249 mm x 235 mm.
