| Description |
Fue construido entre 1806 y 1808 por Napoleón I, siguiendo el modelo del Arco de Constantino en Roma. Los caballos de bronce que originalmente se encaramaban en lo alto se encontraban en la Plaza de San Marcos de Venecia, y fueron parte del botín de guerra que Napoleón consiguió al abolir la república de Venecia en 1797. Estos fueron devueltos después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Forma parte del llamado Gran Eje de París - o Voie Triomphale -, que consiste en el Grande Arche de la Défense al oeste, el Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile en la Place du Général Charles de Gaulle, la avenida Champs Elysées, el Obelisco de Luxor en la Place de la Concorde, los jardines de las Tullerías, el Arco de Triunfo del Carrusel y el Palacio del Louvre (Museo del Louvre). |
