Faïence fine, pâte blanche en relief sur fond bleu et sous couverte - Inscription en calligraphie thuluth : "Gloire à notre maître, le sultan al-Malik al Nasir le sage, l'efficace, le combattant, le champion de la foi, le défenseur Nasir al Dunya wa'l-Din Muhammad ibn Qalla'un, que sa victoire lui apporte la gloire". Les médaillons portent l'inscription ""Gloire à notre maître le sultan".

Pour créer ce modèle, T. Deck a repris la planche n°54 "Vase arabe en cuivre damasquiné d'or et d'argent" du Recueil de dessins pour l'art et l"industrie d'Aldabert de Beaumont. Il s'agit d'un basin conserve"au British Museum. , daté entre 1320 et 1341.


Après la période d'oubli liée au déclin du XVIIe siècle, la présentation des pièces vendues par Auguste Salzmann au musée de Cluny en 1833 va contribuer à la redécouverte des motifs d'Iznik et devenir une source d'inspiration pour les céramistes occidentaux : Théodore Deck (1823-1891), Edmond Lachenal (1855-1930), Leon Parvillée (1830-1885), et Jules Vieillard en France. William de Morgan (1839-1917) en Angleterre. Milkos Zsolnay (1857-1922) en Hongrie. Emile Samson (1837-1913) en fera des copies à Paris (source : wikipedia.fr article céramique d'Iznik).
