Summary edit

Description

The Arisaig Lighthouse is a replica of the original Arisaig Point Lighthouse, which burned in the early 1930s. In 2007 community volunteers built a replica of the Lighthouse using the original plans as a guide.

Arisaig Light - In 1895 a lamp attached to a high pole was erected to navigate boats to and from the Arisaig Wharf; in 1898 a lighthouse was built. A white square wooden tower with four sloping sides, 32 feet high, showing a fixed red light, 40 feet above sea level; visible for seven miles. There were only three keepers of this light. In the late 1930's while lighting the lamp, the lamp caught fire destroying the lighthouse. The government did not replace the building. Arisaig, Nova Scotia, Canada
