English: 19th century stained glass in Dunster Church, Somerset, showing arms of Thomas Luttrell (died 1571), of Dunster Castle, feudal baron of Dunster, husband of Margaret Hadley, daughter and eventual sole heiress of Christopher Hadley (1517-1540), lord of the manor of Withycombe Hadley in Somerset. Or, a bend between six martlets sable (Luttrell) with an inescutcheon of pretence of Hadley (Gules, on a chevron or three cross-crosslets sable) quartering Durborough of Withycombe (Or, on a bend cotised sable three horse's heads argent bridled or) (See Maxwell Lyte, Sir Henry (1848-1940), Dunster and its Lords, published in Archaeological Journal, Vol. 38, 1881, p.82[1] and in the later book version: Maxwell-Lyte, Dunster and its Lords, Appendix F, p.67 |
