The Catholic priest and Army chaplain, who died in a North Korean prisoner of war camp in 1951, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama for conspicuous gallantry while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division from Nov. 1-2, 1950 in Unsan, Korea.
