  • Significance: The Haddam Neck Nuclear Power Plant was one of the earliest commercial-scale nuclear power stations in the United States, and was eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The Waste Disposal Building contained the components which were used to process the radioactive liquid and gaseous waste

generated by nuclear plant operation. Enhanced or enlarged facilities to process gaseous and liquid nuclear waste were completed in 1973-74, largely during the fourth refueling shutdown.
