| Description |
English: Ashchurch: site of former station beyond football ground, 1989. View eastward from the Northway Lane bridge, past the site of the Station to St Nicholas Church. The ex-Midland Birmingham (to left) - (to right) Bristol main line it not visible but crosses by the white buildings and the fir tree, this being the site of the completely new Station built in 5/97, just north of the original Junction Station, which had finally closed 1/11/71. (Cf. SO9233 : Wasteland/ Brownfield site? for the same view in 2007, while my vintage photograph of 1946 SO9233 : Ashchurch - Great Malvern railway shows the same scene when the railways were intact: Ashchurch West Junction, with the branch from Great Malvern and Tewkesbury curved to the right into the station, while the connection across to the Evesham line went straight ahead. |
