Summary edit

Description
English: This is an Assyrian wall panel of the people of Ashteroth in Bashan, Gilead in ancient Israel being exiled to Assyria in 732/727 BC by Tiglath-pileser III (2 Kings 15:29). It is in the Assyrian section of the British Museum in London, UK. The 4 letters of cuneiform writting at the top ,above the picture of the town, says "the town of As-tar-tu". The first sign is called a determinative that means "town". It is the exile of the three Isrealite tribes 10 years before the exile of the ten tribes of Israel in 722 BC. You can see the Isrealites being led away by the single Assyrian on the right of the picture. They are carrying their sacks on their backs.
