Nederlands: Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr is te 27 september 1677 geboren te Nuremberg (D) en aldaar overleden op 1 december 1750. Zijn meest bekende werk is de Atlas Coelestis in quo mundus spectabilis et in eodem stellarum omnium phoenomena notabilia; een verzameling van 30 kaarten op groot folio welke de cosmografie beschrijven. De naam verzameling mag hierbij letterlijk genomen worden, omdat de meeste kaarten al eerder verschenen in andere publicaties van Doppelmayr grofweg tussen 1707 en 1740. Het lijkt daarmee op een wat onsamenhangend geheel. De komeetwaarnemingen op kaart 20 t/m 24 zijn gecontrolleerd met het programma Dance of the Planets. Waarnemingen van de komeet uit 1692 zijn of lijken onbekend in de hedendaagse literatuur. |
