Description
Nederlands: De wiskundige Ubbo Emmius (1547-1625) publiceerde in 1595 een betrouwbare kaart van Ost-Friesland. Deze kaart werd in de loop van de 17de eeuw meerdere malen herdrukt. Deze versie van de kaart werd in 1630 door Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638) uitgegeven. He maakte daarbij gebruik van een koperplaat die hij in 1629 had gekocht van de erfgenamen van zijn Amsterdamse concurrent Jodocus Hondius II.; Rechtsonder een inzet van de Dollard met het bijschrift: Incidit haec inundatio circa annum 1277 Decembris 25.
English: The mathematician Ubbo Emmius (1547-1625) published an accurate map of Ost-Friesland in 1595. His map was copied many times over during the 17th century. This map was published in 1630 by Willem Jansz. Blaeu (1571-1638). He used a copper plate that he had bought in 1629 from the inheritance of his competitor Jodocus Hondius II.
