Title
English: Auburn State Bank, Washington, 1913
Description
English: Auburn, Washington grew from 957 to 3,163 inhabitants between 1910 and 1920. It was a prosperous town, connected to the rest of the nation by three rail lines. Local residents and businesses did their banking at Auburn National Bank or the Auburn State Bank.

This 1913 photograph shows the two-story brick building of the Auburn State Bank, founded in 1908. The building itself was built by C.H. French for Auburn (then known as Slaughter)'s first bank in 1890. A woman and two men chat outside on the wooden walk that crosses the dirt street. The striped awnings could be pulled down to shade the windows of the bank building.
