This avenue is macadamized, and fine residencesand country scenery line it on both sides. Here will beseen, on the left, the palatial residence of the late HoratioHarris, near to which is that of Mr. Williams,—two ofBostons merchant princes. About a mile from these ele-gant places is Forest Hills avenue, which turning to theleft, leads to the beautiful Gods Acre, Forest HillsCemetery. Passing through the imposing arch, whichforms the gateway, we find ourselves in one of the mostpicturesque of modern American cemeteries, which areconceded as being the finest in the world, and laid out withall the taste and effect that skilled architects could bringto add to its natural advantages.
