Summary edit

Description
English: The Avantiswamin temple is situated around 30 kms from Srinagar on Srinagar - Anantnag National Highway on the bank of River Jhelum. This Vaishnava temple was built by King Avantivarman (AD 855 - 883) and constructed on a two-tiered base in the centre of a paved courtyard enclosed by a colonnaded peristyle. A local guide is seen here explaining the history and significance of the temple to a tourist.
