Description

Four Stradivarius instruments called the Axelrod quartet. From left to right:

  • Greffuhle violin (1709)
  • Axelrod viola (1695)
  • Ole Bull violin (1677)
  • Marylebone cello (1688)
Since 1998 the Smithsonian Institution owns the instruments. Until 2012 they were on display in the National Museum of American History.
