English: Modern Latin inscription on the left side of the Azara Herm representing Alexander the Great: “ALEX・M / SIGNVM・IN・TIBURTINO / PISONVM・EFFOSSUM / MDCCLXXIX / IOS・N・AZARA・REST・C” (“This representation of Alexander the Great, discovered in 1779 in the Pisoni (Villa), was restored thanks to Joseph Nicholas Azara”). Pentelic marble, Attic copy of the 1st-2nd century CE after a Greek original of the late 4th century BC.
