Family: Scrophulariaceae Synonym: Herpestis floribunda, Monniera floribunda. Distribution: In wet sandy soil near coast. Found in Peninsular India, Sri Lanka, Java, Australia, Tropical Africa. Rare in Nellore district. Photographed at Atakanithippa, of Nellore district. Erect slender herbs, 15-30cm tall, stems sub quadrangular, purplish, Leaves 2-4x0.4-0.5cm, linear -lanceolate, entire or toothed, multifid when submerged, Flowers 5-6mm across, 1-3 in axils. white with purplish stripes on the upper lip of corolla tube. upper lip emarginate, lower 3 lobed. Stamens didynamous, included, Ovary with many ovules in each cell.Style dilated at top, stigma bifid.Capsule globose.
