Any damage or contamination of this fountain is forbidden with a fine of 2 to 22 Francs. The local council. May 1879 1879 the first electric light was on in Switzerland, on 18 July. In the dining room of the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz. At the Paris Exposition of 1878, the Director Johannes Badrutt discovered the electric light. At the nearby Brattasbach creek he built a small power plant, which operated a lighting system according to the so-called Jablochkoff system. Except of the guests the epochal technological breakthrough created hardly a stir. Especially the ladies loved it. In the usual gas light at that time, the faces shone in a not flattering green. But the new lamps made beautiful rosy cheeks. Switzerland, March 15, 2015. |
