Summary edit

Description Floor tiles described as encaustic in Bankfield Museum, Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. 53.43'.57".N; 1.51'.48".W. Only the geometric arrangement of tiles of various plain colours is shown in this image, but they are bordered by bi-coloured encaustic tiles, as in image File:Bankfield Museum 081.jpg. Today both plain and multicoloured tiles of this type are sold as "encaustic", hence the generalised use of the term by Bankfield Museum.
