Description
English: 342,294 of Missouri citizens are speakers of a non-English language, which is lower than the national average of 21.5%. In 2015, the most common non-English language spoken in Missouri was Spanish. 2.39% of the overall population of Missouri are native Spanish speakers. 0.35% speak German and 0.33% speak Chinese, the next two most common languages. When compared to other states, Missouri has a relatively high number of residents that are native Serbo-Croatian speakers. In 2015, there were 11,988 native Serbo-Croatian speakers living in Missouri, approximately 2.45 times more than would be expected based on the language's frequency in the US more broadly.
