Summary edit

Description

Originally designed for the purpose of destroying US Navy Polaris missile submarines, the VVA-14 was a vertical take off aircraft which could fly at height but could also fly low over water using ground effect. Two prototypes were built of which this is the sole survivor. It first flew in 1972, with testing completed in 1975. During this time it was modified to the M1P variant which had a longer nose mounting two additional jet engines to allow operation as an Ekranoplan. Testing was completed in 1975 and the aircraft was then stored until moved to Monino in 1987. Damaged by vandals en-route, it has sadly never been reassembled. Central Air Force museum, Monino, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
