Description
Nederlands: Bas Eickhout, lijsttrekker voor GroenLinks Europa, sprak op de Meetup in Amsterdam over de noodzaak van inzet op meer treinen en minder vliegen.

De luchtvaart heeft haar grenzen bereikt. Voor het klimaat, omwonenden en de natuur is meer treinen, minder vliegen veel beter en gezonder. Europarlementariër Bas Eickhout wil onder meer dat de oneerlijke concurrentie stopt. De luchtvaartsector draait op subsidie en belastingvoordeel. Zo betalen luchtvaartmaatschappijen geen belasting op kerosine en zit er geen btw op vliegtickets. Terwijl treinmaatschappijen worstelen om hun internationale lijnen rendabel te houden.

Nederland en Europa moeten meer investeren in het treinnetwerk en beter samenwerken. Zodat treinen de snelste, makkelijkste en goedkoopste optie worden. Zo krijg je meer mensen in de trein!
