| Description |
Français : Bateau-manège construit par Mauriac Père de Bordeaux en 1825 pour la traversée de la rade de Genève, des Eaux-Vives aux Pâquis. Exploitation interrompue en 1828. Le bateau est constitué de deux embarcations, il est actionné par des chevaux dont la rotation fait mouvoir des roues à aubes placées entre les coques. Gravure : eau-forte, aquarelle sur papier, hauteur 20 cm, largeur 26 cm. La gravure porte ces mots attribués à John Petit-Senn (1792-1870): "De l'escargot du lac, l'existence est à bout. Il allait lentement; il en va plus du tout". |
