English: Battery Tower, Stairs Road, Essex This weird looking outlook tower obviously has something to do with the MOD because it's on their land as you walk down to the seafront at Wakering Stairs. The sign photographed a little further on warns me that photography is against the official secrets act in this inhospitable area, but I don't suppose anyone really cares. 299235 I actually have no idea what this tower is. It has never been manned in all the times I have been here. I assume it is a battery tower that was built during WW2 as it must afford a good view across the Estuary from the top. If you know more about it, please email me. |
