Family: Caesalpinaceae Distribution: Common in dry deciduous forests of India, and Srilanka. Small deciduous trees , branchlets tomentose. Leaves 2 foliate, leaflets connate to 2/3 of of their length; coriaceous, ovate-orbicular; 3-5cmleaflets rounded at apex. Flowers light yellow, small in terminal lax racemes. calyx 5, apathaceous;petals 5 spreading, unequal; stamens 10, al fertile, ovary monocarpellary, ovules many; pod indehiscent , thick, falcate, 2-2.5x15-20cm .Wood hard, Inner bark gives a good fibre.
