Description
English: "Beauchamp Arms" pub sign, Dymock. Arms of the Lygon family, Earls Beauchamp. Text from: 'Dymock', in A History of the County of Gloucester: Volume 12, ed. A.R.J. Jurica (Woodbridge, 2010), pp. 122-174. British History Online http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/glos/vol12/122-174: "By 1812 Samuel Beale had sold (the manor of Dymock) to William Lygon, Lord Beauchamp of Powick (Worcs.) who had already added several farms in Dymock to his estate at Madresfield in Worcestershire. William, who was created Earl Beauchamp in 1815, died in 1816 and his successor at Madresfield owned c.550 acres in Dymock in the mid 19th century. Most of that land was sold c.1919 but William Lygon, the 8th Earl, retained the lordship of the manor in the mid 1960s and the Madresfield estate included a farm at Ketford in 2002".
