Description
English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented. An honourary exhibition for the 80th birthday of the sculptor Mari Andriessen is held at the Frans Hals museum in Haarlem. The exhibition gives a good impression of the oeuvre of Andriessen, who is known as 'the sculptor of the resistance' in the Netherlands after the Second World War. SHOTS: several sculptures by Andriessen: monument 'Man voor vuurpeloton' (Man in front of the firing suaud) in Haarlemmerhout, 'Erik' based on the book of the same name by Godfried Bomans and a statue of two sisters that is being inspected by Andriessen (with cap and pipe); Andriessen carries a piece of rock from his garden to his studio; int. studio; Andriessen at work in his studio; several shots of statues made by Andriessen; sevral shots of the honourary exhibition, a.o. a bronze cast of the resistance monument for Enschede and his first sculpture 'De zaaier' (The sower); Andriessen poses next to a statue of himself.
