English: Bell chimes in Beijing Telegram Building (Dianbao Dalou), playing the melody of The East Is Red before striking 5. The East Is Red was the de facto national anthem of China and a song expressing personality cults of Mao Zedong. Some buildings in China still play The East Is Red before striking on the hours as a holdover of the Cultural Revolution, and Beijing's Telegraph Building is one of them. |
