Description
English: Benhall Open Space (commonly referred to as 'Benhall Park' by local residents) belongs to Cheltenham Borough Council. The woods were planted when the nearby railway was constructed. In 2017 a species count revealed that there were ten species of native trees present, making this one of the most tree diverse woodlands in Gloucestershire. A result of the plantation is that all the trees are around the same age. The woodland has not been closely managed and the trees were densely positioned, resulting in a high canopy and spare understoreys. This is exacerbated by heavy public use of the area.
