English: Berachah Chapel Calvinistic Methodist, built 1830, rebuilt 1906.
The story goes that following the surrender of the French landing party in 1797 it was suggested that thanksgiving for the deliverance from the French should be held every year on the sands at Goodwick, at the spot where they laid down their arms and that the spot be named Berachah - the valley of blessing - the place at which Jehosaphat won a remarkable victory (2 Chron. 20). Thirty-odd years later, the Calvinistic Methodists built a chapel on the hill above and named it Berachah. |
