Description
One of ten panels of the Mindelheim Altarpiece of the Holy Kinship (Mindelheimer Sippenaltar). The altarpiece originally stood in St. Anne's Chapel in Mindelheim parish church. The chapel was the burial place of the Rechberg and Frundsberg families. The altarpiece panels display the Kinship of Christ, the legendary members of the Family of Christ. The generations no longer appear as a genealogical grouping. Instead, Strigel focuses on individual families. Raising children as Christians as well as teaching them to read and write become the main objectives.
