Summary edit

Description
Latina: "Salutate MARIAM. Roman. 16. BERNARDUS divam Virginem salutat."
English: Copperplate print by Jacobus Neeffs, 1653 in 'Sancti Bernardi Melliflui Doctoris Ecclesiae, Pulcherrima & Exemplaris Vitae Medulla' p. 200. St. Bernard, rapt in Marian devotion, adds the last acclamation to the Salve Regina: O clemens, o pia, o dulcis. The three footprints in the foreground are a reference to the leaps of joy he made when speaking each of the three words. This purportedly happened in the Cathedral of Speyer.
