Besançon (Doubs) - L'église Saint-Maurice L'église Saint-Maurice est un édifice de style Jésuite situé Grande Rue dans le centre historique. La première église dédiée à saint Maurice aurait été érigée par l'évêque de Besançon saint Sylvestre et remonterait à la fin du IVe siècle. Détruite au siècle suivant, elle est rebâtie par saint Nicet à la fin du VIe siècle et/ou au début du VIIe siècle. Elle est de nouveau détruite et reconstruite au VIIIe siècle, puis au Xe siècle, partiellement au XVIe siècle puis totalement à la fin du XVIIe siècle et achevée en 1715 pour lui donner son ascpect actuel. L'édifice est classé monument historique depuis le 13 janvier 1938, et comporte de nombreux tableaux, quelques statues ainsi que des plaques commémoratives. |
