Cisco didn't enjoy the hike, for the most part, until the Boy Scouts showed up. Then instead of pulling and begging to go back down the mountain, he perked up and got a second wind. He is a moody, stubborn dog, but he likes kids. But he's my dog and I love him. You can't choose your kids and in my case I didn't choose my dog (and he didn't choose me). But you love them anyway. I believe humanity is blessed by the presence in nature of the wolf, striding nobly somewhere along the middle of the continuum running from beast to man, that became our loyal companion between 15,000 and 100,000 years ago. Ours is a fundamentally lonely race and we can often use a companion. A lot of the photos from this hike look crappy because I had my camera on the entire time and as it bounced against my shirt various controls like white balance and auto focus were being reconfigured without my knowledge. I had to Photoshop most of them just to make them look reasonable. Some of them were exposed so badly I couldn't use them at all. Note to self: next time turn the camera off between shots. |
