well. Maidensare coming to draw water. Eliezer prays that he may findthe one whom God has chosen to be Isaacs wife. Here comesa beautiful maiden. Let me drink, says Eliezer. In-deed, she answers, I will give your camels water too. Heasks her name. How happy he is to hear that she is Abra-hams brothers grandchild, beautiful Rebekah. Isaac andRebekah are cousins, But Isaac is older. God tells Eliezerthat Rebekah is to be Isaacs wife. Soon Eliezer is invited into the tent. He tells his errandand asks for Rebekah as a bride for Isaac. Her father atlast says yes. Rebekah, too. Now Eliezer gladly gives herthe gifts sent by Abraham. Rebekah must come at once to Isaacs land. The dear oldservant can not wait till Isaac has his lovely wife! Soon all are ready, Rebekah, her nurse, and ten camels. Isaac is in the field praying at evening-time, when he seescamels coming. Isaac and Rebekah greet each other, andRebekah becomes Isaacs wife. Listen, it is said so prettily: Isaac loved Rebekah! Gen.2h.

BIBLE PRIMER 29 12. ISAAC BLESSING JACOB. Isaac and Rebekah had two sons, twins, Esau and Jacob.Esau was the first-born. He was red-haired and rough-skinned. Esau loved to roam in the woods and hunt. Jacobloved to stay at home with his mother Rebekah. BecauseEsau was the first-born he had the birthright. This meansthat when the father died he would be the head of the familyand have twice as much money as his brother. It also meantthat Gods blessing and promise were to come through Esauand his children. You remember, do you not, the covenantwith Abraham? Esau should have cared for the birthright,but he was careless. One day he sold his birthright to Jacobfor a dish of food Jacob had made. It often happens thatpeople sell their blessings for worthless things! When Isaac was old and his eyes dim, he felt that he wouldsoon die. He wished to bless Esau with the birthright bless-ing. I suppose he never knew that the boys had bought andsold the birthright years ago! So Isaac told Esau to go
