Description
Deutsch: Am 8. Januar 1947 trafen sechs Bahnwaggons mit Hilfsgütern aus Biel (Schweiz) in Wien-Floridsdorf ein und es konnten insgesamt über 26 Tonnen Lebensmittel und 21 Tonnen Bekleidung und Haushaltsgegenstände an die notleidende Bevölkerung verteilt werden.

Um dem großzügigen Hilfswerk der Stadt Biel ein dauerndes Denkmal zu setzen, wurde am 26.06.1948 die städtischen Wohnhausanlage auf dem Kienzerplatz in Floridsdorf in "Bieler-Hof" benannt. Bürgermeister Theodor Körner nahm in Beisein des Stadtpräsidenten von Biel, Eduard Baumgartner,Otto Kunz, sowie zahlreicher Festgäste die Benennung vor.

Der Text der Gedenktafel auf der Wohnhausanlage lautet:

"Zu Ehren der Schweizer Stadt Biel, welche nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg eine große Hilfsaktion für die Bevölkerung von Floridsdorf durchgeführt hat".
English: On January 8, 1947, six wagons with supplies from Biel/Bienne (Switzerland) in Vienna-Floridsdorf arrived and it could be distributed a total of 26 tons of 21 tons of clothing, food and household items to the needy population.

To put a lasting monument to the generous relief of the city of Biel, the urban residential complex in Vienna – Floridsdorf "Biel-Bienne-Hof" was named to the 26.06.1948. Mayor Theodor Körner made the naming in presence of the Mayor of Biel, Eduard Baumgartner, Otto Kunz, and numerous guests. Grains gave a detailed overview of Biel in his speech after Floridsdorf. The text of the plaque on the residential complex is:

"In honor of the Swiss city of Biel, which has carried out a major relief operation for the people of Floridsdorf after the second world war".
