English: The Wehrle Tank, more popularly known as the Big Blue Water Tower, as seen from the Central Amherst Little League baseball diamonds at Kingsgate Park in Amherst, New York, November 2020. A familiar landmark for Western New York commuters on Interstates 90 and 290, the hydropillar-style tower was built in 1987, was repainted to its current color scheme (blue on the sides, white and red checkered roof) in the very early 1990s, stands 175 feet in height, and holds 1.5 million gallons of water. |
