The 799th production Titan, it's from the later batch built at Leyland's expanded factory in the Lillyhall Industrial Estate in Workington (earlier ones were built by British Leyland subsidiary Park Royal Vehicles in Park Royal, London). As with the vast majority of production, it was delivered new to London Transport as part of the dual-door T-class, allocated fleet number T739.

On privatisation it passed into the fleet of London Central, who had put it into store by the end of 1997.

By August 2000 it was in service as a tour bus with The Big Bus Company, who had bought it via Allco Passenger Vehicles and converted it to an open top bus, also removing the centre door. By 2008 it had become a fleet spare and latterly seeing use as a static ticket sales point. Pictured here in the late-afternoon on a Saturday, the lack of staff or customers gives no clue as to what it might be parked there for (encroaching on a no-waiting zone no less), especially as (as of 2012), the station is not on any of the company's tour routes, which instead in this area travel along Embankment and later, past Trafalgar Square on the west side (Whitehall - Regent Street, ie not down the Strand).
