| Description |
English: Bigges' Pillar, Edlingham Woods The OS 1:50,000 map is confusing here. The little black circle above the place name actually marks the location of Nanny Felton's Cairn. Bigges' Pillar is hidden in the depths of the forest, although now opened up by recent extensive felling. This is a large cairn of stones about 2.5m high located in a prominent hilltop position. A series of stones seem to provide steps to its top leading to a suggestion that it may be the base of a medieval beacon. |
