Description
Deutsch: Lukas Cranach d. J: Christus am Kreuz (1571; 250 x 156 cm; Information auf lucascranach.org). Das Bild hängt am Aufgang zu den Ausstellungsräumen im Lutherhaus Wittenberg. Es zeigt Christus lebend am Kreuz, den Blick auf den Betrachter gerichtet. In den lateinischen Versen spricht er den Betrachter an und deutet sein Leiden und Sterben als Versöhnungsopfer für dessen Sünden. Der Text stammt von Johann Major (1533-1600), veröffentlicht in seinen Elegiae 1584 (Digitalisat).
