Description
Čeština: Bill Barazetti (celým jménem Werner Theodore (Feodor) Barazetti) (* 1914, Aarau, Švýcarsko – 2000) byl jedním z těch, kteří organizovali a dohlíželi na tzv. Kindertransporty židovských dětí z nacisty ovládaných území do Spojeného království v době před vypuknutím druhé světové války.
English: Bill Barazetti (full name Werner Theodore (Feodor) Barazetti) (* 1914, Aarau, Switzerland - 2000) was one of those who organized and supervised the so-called Kindertransports of Jewish children from Nazi-controlled territories to the United Kingdom before the outbreak of World War II.. The initiator of the rescue transports of people threatened by the Nazi regime was Mrs. Doreen Warriner. In these rescue operationswere involved Marie Schmolková, Nicholas Winton, Trevor Chadwick, Beatrice Wellington, Josephine Pike, Bill Barazetti and others. Doreen Warriner regarded Barazetti as a useful collaborator and especially appreciated his language skills and modesty and reliability. After the departure of Sir Nicholas Winton from Prague, Bill Barazetti worked in Prague as Sir Nicholas Winton's right hand. It was Barazetti who also organized trains, interviewed families and sent Winton detailed information and photographs of each child. From May 1939 to July 1939, three trains of mostly Jewish children (so-called Kindertransports) left Prague and, thanks to the complicated system of false identity cards created by Bill Barazetti, they passed through Holland to London. In 1993 Yad Vashem in Israel gave to Bill Barazetti the highest honors - Righteous Among the Nations.
