William Osborn . William H. Osborn entered the U.S. Navy in June, 1978, just two weeks after his high school graduation! During his Navy career Osborn served on ships USS Kitty Hawk CV-63, USS Hoel DDG-13, USS Ford FFG-54 and USS Thach FFG-43. His at sea deployments included the Western Pacific, North Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf during the Iran/Iraq war also during Operation Desert Shield. Petty Officer Osborn’s port calls outside the continental U.S. included six U.S. Territories and fifteen foreign countrys. Wiliiam’s shore based duty stations included Great Lakes, IL; San Diego, CA and Bremerton, WA. Petty Officer Osborn’s personal military accomplishments include qualifications as Anti –Submarine Anti-Shipping Tactical Air Controller, Air Intercept Controller, Master Training Specialist, Command Career Counselor and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. William retired from the Navy as a OS1(SW) or Petty Officer First Class (E-6) in October 1994 during the post Desert Storm troop draw down.. William is married to Susan Osborn, and they have five adult children, four daughters, and one son. They are also in the process of adopting a six-year-old grand-daughter. William is proud to have his second from the youngest daughter Karen follow in his footsteps and serving in the U.S. Navy. Karen is a linguist currently serving at Ft. Gordon, GA.. William joined the federal work force in April 2005 with the National Park Service working at Mammoth Cave National Park, KY and Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace National Monument in Hodgenville, KY. In April 2006 William joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery in Celina, TN. William’s job title is Motor Vehicle Operator but his duties include all aspects of raising Trout from eggs to nine inch stocking size, distribution of fish to various locations in middle Tennessee and northern Alabama, various maintenance jobs and anything else as required at a busy fish hatchery. |
