295 Black-headed Lined Finch, Tropical Seed-eater, and a rareBlack-cheeked Tanager (Calliste cyanea), this latter I believe tobe the first living specimen to reach this countrj-, and wasimported by our esteemed member, Mr. E. W. Harper. In this hurriedly written account I have noted the birds asI happened to remember them, not attempting any givenorder or a complete list. In conclusion I must mention that for two or three years Ikept the Budgerigars and other Parrakeets with the Finches,but in the end I had to separate them and they now occupyanother enclosure, there were too many broken limbs, andslain fledglings to keep them together, though so far as I couldtrace, the Budgerigars alone were the offenders.Plate III.
